Cocorí Lodge
If El Paredon had a pulse, you’d find it beating strongest at Cocorí. Equal parts surf sanctuary, hostel, beachfront restaurant, and cultural landmark, Cocorí Lodge has become the town’s natural landing point — a front-row seat to the ocean, the swell, and the soul of this growing surf town.
Born from a group of surfer friends chasing waves and chasing a dream, Cocorí was built around a simple idea: live at the beach, surf every day, and create something meaningful. With El Paredon’s untamed waves and untouched coastline, it didn’t take long for that dream to catch on. What started as a low-key hostel quickly evolved into a full-blown lifestyle brand - complete with a surf academy, an open-air restaurant, and a nightly rhythm of music, movement, and connection. It’s now the place to stay, surf, eat, and meet - not just for tourists, but for the local community, too.
But Cocorí is more than a vibe - it’s a cornerstone of El Paredon’s surf culture. Each year, it hosts the Banzai Classic, the town’s flagship local surf competition that celebrates homegrown talent and puts the spotlight on the next generation of wave riders. And once a year, it goes even bigger: ALAS Latin Pro, part of the official Latin American Surf Association tour, brings in top surfers from across the continent for a multi-day event that electrifies the whole town.
But the impact doesn’t stop at the shoreline. Cocorí’s founders also helped launch the “Asociación de Hoteles El Paredon” and founded Sustainable El Paredon, a community initiative focused on projects like renovating the town’s school, paying local teachers, building lifeguard towers, and improving trash collection and recycling. It’s a business built on waves, but rooted in care - for people, for place, and for the future of the town itself.
Whether you’re checking in for a few nights, grabbing a beachfront breakfast, or dancing barefoot at one of their weekly events, Cocorí makes you feel like you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.
