Ruk'ux Tours
Ruk'ux means “heart” in the Mayan language. That word shapes everything about this experience - from the mangroves to the community behind it.
Led by local guides, Ruk'ux Tours offers daily boat trips through the peaceful mangrove channels of El Paredón, where you can glide across calm water in the stillness of morning or under the glow of a Pacific sunset. These aren't just scenic rides. They're a way to slow down, connect with the coast, and learn about the ecosystem that surrounds the town.
Each tour includes wildlife spotting, a visit to the salt farms, a swim in the interior mangrove, and a chance to learn traditional cast net fishing. The 4PM tour ends with coconut water or cerveza at la Boca Barra, one of the best places to catch the last light. You can also add dinner at Zicatela to close out the day for just a little extra!
Erick, the founder, is committed to working with local guides from the village, creating jobs that support families and deepen the experience for visitors. He also organizes regular mangrove cleanups to help protect the same waters his tours rely on. So this isn't just a tour. It's a way to experience the place more fully, and to support the people who care for it.
